Stuart is running the Steall Marathon on 20th September to fundraise for BFIRST, the British Foundation for Reconstructive Surgery Training.
The Steall Marathon is one of the UK’s toughest with over 7000 feet of ascent on mountain trails south of Ben Nevis.
Recent training work run by BFIRST in The Gambia has shown a desperate lack of all aspects of burn care and prevention in this country.
This fundraising is to support a major project to help develop burn care in The Gambia by the following:
Running multiple courses for healthcare professionals on acute burn care and burn reconstruction surgery (commencing November 2025).
Educating communities about burn prevention and first aid.
Facilitating the development of a Burns unit.
