Learning objectives: 

  1. Understand the basic principles of radiology in the hand and wrist
  2. Recognise and assess fractures and injuries of the hand shown on plain imaging.
  3. Recognise and assess fractures and injuries of the wrist shown on plain imaging.
  4. Be aware of and able to spot signs of commonly missed fractures and injuries of the hand and wrist.
  5. Understand the basic techniques of ultrasound scanning in the hand and wrist and appreciate what conditions can be usefully imaged by ultrasound
  6. Understand the basic principles of CT scanning as applied to the hand and wrist and appreciate what conditions can be usefully imaged by CT scanning.
  7. Understand the basic principles of MRI scanning as applied to the hand and wrist and appreciate what conditions can be usefully imaged by MRI scanning.
  8. Know about latest advances in imaging of hand and wrist conditions and possible future developments
