Download Event to Calendar

Obtaining adequate and appropriate soft tissue cover of the hand is an important aspect of restoring function. Soft tissue loss over digits, exposed joints and tendons, can potentially lead to stiffness, infection and overall loss of prehension. This 2-part webinar will focus on soft tissue cover of the fingertips, hand, wrist, forearm and elbow. The first part will cover non-microsurgical options and the second part, microsurgical ones.

The first session will be chaired by Neil Cahoon from St. John’s Hospital, Edinburgh, U.K in partnership with Abraham Gegziabher and Atakiltie Barakie from ALERT hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Other members of the faculty include Professor Henk Giele from Oxford University Hospitals, U.K; Wee Lam from St John’s hospital, Edinburgh, U.K and Fortune Iwuagwu from Chelmsford hospital, U.K. We are honoured to have with us Professor Raja Sabapathy from Ganga hospital, India.

By the end of this webinar participants should be able to:

  • Understand the specific requirements of the hand in choosing soft tissue cover options
  • Develop a strategy for choosing the correct reconstruction technique based on the injury presentation
