Adam Reid

Adam Reid

Mr Reid is an Academic Consultant Plastic Surgeon with a specialist interest in trauma, nerve injury and complex limb reconstruction. He is a founder of the OrthoPlastic service for Greater Manchester at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. He undertook surgical training in the North-West Deanery and a clinical fellowship in Glasgow concentrating on complex limb reconstruction. 

Mr Reid is a Senior Clinical Lecturer and leads a research team of surgeons and scientists at the Blond McIndoe Laboratories, University of Manchester focussed on peripheral nerve injury/regeneration and complex wounds. He collaborates widely and has over 50 original academic and scientific publications in peer reviewed journals. This work spans injury and reconstruction in clinical research and lab-based science. He is the Deputy Editor for the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons and sits on the Scar Free Foundation Research Council.

Mr Reid is a dedicated educational and clinical supervisor for Health Education England North West Deanery and trains plastic surgeons and medical students at all stages of career.

He is passionate about global health and equity in access to surgical expertise. His current projects include the development of OrthoPlastic services in Uganda and Zimbabwe.
